Introduction
Sun Tzu’s Art of War is a strategic war game based upon the Warring States period of Ancient China. In a test of strategy, foresight and deceit, two commanders face up against each other for control over the crumbling Zhou Dynasty. Each season, both commanders must select in secret the units in their armies to send to one of the contested provinces. The commander who is better able to anticipate the moves of their opponent, direct their armies in battle and recognize when to fight and when to live to fight another day will win the mandate of heaven for their lord and the respect of generals for all time.

How to Play
The Art of War is an abstract war game played with dice and tiles. The 20 military units in each commander’s army are represented by dice with a unique strength and disorder value on each face. While the provinces are represented by a set of 8 wooden tiles with traits based upon the warring states of ancient China. During each season, one player chooses a battleground tile to fight over, you roll a die to determine the weather and both players secretly allocate a number of military unit dice from their reserves to the upcoming battle behind their blinds. Once deployment is decided, the dice are rolled and the battle begins. Battles last either until one army retreats or it is completely annihilated. Then another season begins. The war continues until all provinces have been decided and victory is given to the player who controls more of the provinces with the mandate of heaven than the other.
